Is Bill Cosby set to release a Rap record?

According to AllHipHop.com Comedian/Actor/Social Activist Bill Cosby is going to release a new Rap album. I think it's great that Bill heard about the record industry's recent failings and wanted to do his part to keep another great U.S. industry afloat. I'm going to avoid all of the obvious stabs we could take at Bill over this one, because I respect the man. Mr. Cosby has been very vocal about a culture which he feels is eroding the youth. In the name of full disclosure I am a huge Hip-Hop fan, my tastes rest in 90's Hip-Hop like Tribe, De La, Hyro, Pharside or todays under grown like MF Doom, El-P, Cage, RJ-D2 and others. But Bill seems one of the few celebrities today who is not content to just sit and complain about social issues, but get of his bum and champion his cause. That being said, I think this album will be horrible. I don't think Mr. Cosby truly understands what makes for a good or even decent Rap album, than again I don't think any of todays Studio exces or even todays radio rappers do either.

A lot of people take issue with Cosby's view on the subject, but I haven't here an educated rebutal on his issues, the closest thing to a counter point would be Chuck D, but it's obvious they seem to agree on many of the problems, just have different ideas on their causes.

Election 08 Pools, or Polls or Somthing!?

With every national election the question arises, do pools matter? I think it depends on where you live, whereas living in Florida I would really need a pool to beat the heat. For these who live in Alaska, I don't think pools matter, I mean isn't it usually below freezing there? Oh.. Wait.. Polls! Read the Death of Capitan America online, for free!

The Wire: Maurice Levy loves Robert McClintock?

All over blogs, big or small you can read all about this weeks shocking episode of The Wire, If you haven't seen it I'm not gonna spoil it for you. (click here if you just got to know) I am going to write about what I believe to be overlooked as so many details in the wire are. In one scene we are treated to the inside of Baltimore's scummiest of lawyers, Maurice Levy's law offices. Now you may have read of David Simon's tip of his hat to the real Baltimore quite often and in this instance it featured one my favorite artist, Robert McClintock. Levy's walls are covered with his work!

Robert McClintock is a self described "HYBRiD PHoTO-DiGiTAL ARTiST" meaning he uses photographs and paint, as well a Mac with a giant monitor. McClintock catches Baltimore's fun and quirky landscape as well as Simon depicts it's dirty not-so-underbelly. Was Simon hinting that the fun and loud Baltimore exists within it's dark seedy urban blight? Some times it's difficult to remember that David Simon's Baltimore, Robert McClintock's Baltimore and John Waters' Baltimore are all the same Baltimore and all were once Barry Levinson's Baltimore.

Whenever your in Baltimore's Fell's Point, I recommend you stop by McClintock's studio it's at 1809 Thames Street. If you need a zip for Google Maps it's 21231, which is coincidently right next to where NBC would shoot the external shots of the police precinct in Homicide.

Oh and I caught wind of a rumor the character Detective John Munch, played by Richard Belzer,who is currently on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, is going to make a cameo on an episode of this season's Wire. For those who don't know Belzer first played Munch on the Baltimore based Homicide, and will be setting some sort of record for most appearances in different TV shows as the same character. It seems this time TV is giving Simon a nod seeing as he wrote Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, which became Homicide: Life on the Street. (Ok so he's really giving himself a nod, but I think he deserves it.)

117 Reasons to Hulk Out!

While poking my nose around where it doesn't belong I found the Blog of TV producer Kenneth Johnson. Who is Kenneth Johnson you may ask, Well he produced several TV shows in and around the 80's. The most notable of said TV shows would be Alien Nation and The Incredible Hulk. Up on his list he has a wonderful list of reasons good ole Dr. Banner would transform into the not so jolly green giant. Oddly enough I didn't see a single mention of that one episode where Dr. Banner tried to buy a Wii for his nephew, "Hulk smash puny teen aged condescending Gamestop manager!"
