Lazy Sunday: Super Bowl Shuffle edition

Welcome to another Lazy Sunday! This Sunday I plan, like most Americans to watch the Super Bowl, while I'm not that real interested in either team, I will be rooting for the under dog NY Giants fr two reasons. First because the last time they were at the big game they were defeated by my Baltimore Ravens, but more importantly I'm rooting for the Giants because the New England Patriots cheated. While I would love to witness a perfect season to tell my grandkids about, I find it inherently worthless if I need to tell them that they got there by cheating. I know a lot of people will say they would have had a perfect season without cheating, but we will never really know now will we? If they win the whole season needs to be marked with an *! Now they are even being accused of spying on the Rams before Super Bowl XXXVI. It's hard enough to convince my self to watch baseball any more, if Camden Yards wasn't such a nice stadium to hang out in I may have abandoned that sport all together.

Now let us go back to a simpler time, before we knew how corny it was for our sports celebrities to rap
(Thanks again Shaq{Ok this one's not so bad})

Is Bill Cosby set to release a Rap record?

According to AllHipHop.com Comedian/Actor/Social Activist Bill Cosby is going to release a new Rap album. I think it's great that Bill heard about the record industry's recent failings and wanted to do his part to keep another great U.S. industry afloat. I'm going to avoid all of the obvious stabs we could take at Bill over this one, because I respect the man. Mr. Cosby has been very vocal about a culture which he feels is eroding the youth. In the name of full disclosure I am a huge Hip-Hop fan, my tastes rest in 90's Hip-Hop like Tribe, De La, Hyro, Pharside or todays under grown like MF Doom, El-P, Cage, RJ-D2 and others. But Bill seems one of the few celebrities today who is not content to just sit and complain about social issues, but get of his bum and champion his cause. That being said, I think this album will be horrible. I don't think Mr. Cosby truly understands what makes for a good or even decent Rap album, than again I don't think any of todays Studio exces or even todays radio rappers do either.

If you want to get an idea of what this album will sound like check out this jam session from 1969 with Bill Cosby and Quincy Jones

And Here's a clip from Cosby on Meet the Press speaking about his issues with "gangster rap"

A lot of people take issue with Cosby's view on the subject, but I haven't here an educated rebutal on his issues, the closest thing to a counter point would be Chuck D, but it's obvious they seem to agree on many of the problems, just have different ideas on their causes.

How dare you download Ghostface's new album?!

Ghostface seemed a bit miffed at all the people downloading his new album, how does he know you ask? Well he has 118,777, and counting, MySpace friends and only sold some 30, 000 units.

Ghost if it makes you fell any better I bought my copy, and I'm not on your friends list.

I enjoyed the Bid Doe Rehab, Buy it HERE

From the "Whaa...?" Department;

According to Hollywood.com Shia LaBeouf wants to make a movie about undergrown MC, Cage. (That's rapper in laymen terms) Now I am a big Cage fan, but as far as I'm concerned the jury's still out on LaBeof, but as long as he doesn't eff up Indy I'm sure I'll be ok.

Seriously though can anyone see Shia in a battle? I guess I'm just judging him on his past parts. I am glad someone want's to make biopics on the dope MC's that get no radio play. Seriously Rap/Hip-Hop on the radio is horrible. You wouldn't know but there are still a lot of good hip-hop music being made, you just have to know where to find it. I wonder if this pet project of his will ever make it out of the "I wanna" stage. I hope so, maybe it would open te doors for undergrown biopics. I can't wait for the El-P/Co-Flow story. How about "A Man and His Mask: the M.F. Doom story." or "The Funkiest of Homosapiens; Del, the Untold Story"

Don't know Cage? You should. Check out his MySpace Page HERE. It even contains a slo-mo shot of LaBeouf throwing up Cage's Sign on SNL.
